"Maranatha" was founded in fall 1996 with a light push of our sponsor, producer and inspirer Jesus Christ, and also with the assistance of our pastor Nickolay Yezhov. During its formation, the band changed its members several times. Today the following people are members of "Maranatha": Leonid Belenky - band's leader, he writes and sings songs, plays guitar Pavel Zhezhel - guitar Alexander Bereza - bass-guitar, composer and singer Sergey Spilnik - drums Marina Melnik - composer and singer Dmitry Tkachenko - flute, harmonica, accordeon, composer and singer -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Leonid Danilovich Belenky was born in 1973, June 16 in Kremenchuk, Ukraine, to a family of office workers. His parents were atheists, his mother was a member of the Communist Party. He started practicing music at the age of 6. He was involved in non-formal movements, practiced break dance, hip-hop and wrote rap songs. In 1989, he met hippies and tried drugs. Before his salvation he played with a band called "Anaesthesia Yaguzhynska". Sergey Vladimirovich Spilnik was born in 1967, March 30. He has college educaton. He was raised in a family of musicians. He has played drums since he was 6. After the military service he went to a music college where he specialized in drums. After a year of studies he gave up and started to play with band "Treasures" in Kremenchuk. He participated in Chervona Ruta Festival and for a short time worked with band "FreeStyle". Marina Alexandrovna Melnik was born in 1978, June 17. She has got a high school education. Single. She studed piano at a music school for five years. Dmitry Nikolayevich Tkachenko was born in 1970, November 8. He graduated from a music school as an accordeon player. Before his salvation he was a professional break dancer and read rap songs in a little-known band called "St. Vitus's Dance." Pavel Alexandrovich Zhezhel played with band "Orange Outrage." Alexander Grigoryevich Bereza was born in 1974, September 13. He has got a high school education. He is an ex-leader of band "Agressor."
