Five days in coma could have been the last days in the life of the 12
year old girl.

Since the early childhood doctors had been giving Olga
Pokatilova not optimistic predictions:
at first an illness of kidneys, then
lungs. And when she was six she was given a diagnosis: cirrhosis
of a liver. Her mother was told that the daughter would live for
10-15 years. And once in the morning an appeal to the daughter
received no answer.
Mother. On the way to the hospital, she began to
vomit with blood. When I saw that , I thought it was the end. All
I was told before happened. In the evening I was told that USR was
taken. That it was coma, and there was almost no liver, and that brains
were turned off. It was told: “You must understand that it’s the end”.
Olya . It seemed to me as I was flying somewhere.
I was flying and flying when I saw clouds flying by. I felt my hair
taking a sweep. And suddenly I understood that I was dying. heart
continued to weaken. And her lungs began to be filled with liquid. |

Mother. When doctors
told me that she had a pneumonia, the first thought was: it’s the
end. And then a strength of some kind gave me this faith – it was
God’s strength, of course. And I began praying and crying to God even
though it was difficult to step over the barrier for praying.
Olya. I began to cry: “Jesus, Jesus, help me”. And
suddenly I stopped flying.
Mother. When the doctor came out, I asked him: “Is
the pneumonia over? I thought: “Now he’ll tell me that she died”.
But he answered “What pneumonia? I don’t hear it”.
Even though pneumonia had disappeared, Olya
had been in coma for four days. Her mother kept on praying. Next
morning she brought a swaddling cloth, which had been prayed on
at church.
Mother. Many churches were praying. Thanks God for
the church, for this support, for the brothers’ love.
Olya. I was afraid and I was crying and I would like
to ask Him: “Lord, have I died? And He answered: “No, my child, you
are just sleeping”. |

Mother. In the evening
when I returned to my daughter in the hospital doctors told me that
the child was conscious. And I saw doctor were happy, although before
the doctors told me that her brains were completely turned off and
they would not restore. That is what the miracle is.
Five days in coma could have been the last in the life
of the 12 year old girl. But she has lived for already two years
after that. And if doctors – ordinary people- struggle for the
life of even the condemned ill person, then, of course, God Who
is Life is longing to save and guard it in everyone. |
