Corr.: Could you tell us about yourself? A.G.: My music "career" started with three guitar chords that my father
showed me. I learned to play guitar very quickly and with enthusiasm, studying
through all available self-teaching manuals. At that moment I loved the
groups "Kino," "Nautilus Pompilius," "Grazhdanskaya Oborona" and "Metallica"
whose hits I had been succesfully performing for my friends. In 1992, me,
bass guitar player Roman Kolesnik, and guitar player Alexander Panin founded
the thrash group "Marquis de Sad" which fell apart in a year because the
musicians went to the army. The next stage of my creative work was participation
in Karen Galustyan's group "Vereskoviy Myod." Karen wrote songs in the
style of "Space"; after a while we parted ways. The last group that I worked
with and that had a big influence on me was "Prepona Demofon Muson" which
played music that was a mixture between "Depeche Mode", "The Cure," and
"U2". After I received Jesus Christ, God gave me the gift of writing and
performing Christian songs. My first audio album "Good News" was recorded
in 1998; now it is becoming known to local full Gospel churches.
Corr.: How did you make a decision to become a Christian performer? A.G.: There are many reasons why I am glad to write namely Christian
music. Christian music has just started developing in our country, and
I consider myself privileged to be near its sources. I am going to serve
it with all of the gifts that God has given me.
Corr.: How do you write your songs? A.G.: Song-writing is a spiritual act that happens either by inspiration
or after many hours of thinking.
Corr.: What does music mean to you? Who do you write it for? A.G.: Christian music is spiritual music which is being created for
the edification of Christians, the preaching of the Gospel, and also as
one of the arts.
Corr.: Are you planning to make a solo carier? A.G.: I have recorded a solo album at the studio of Association "Emmanuel,"
with a few backup vocalists. Now I perform solo, but I am planning to gather
a group to work together.
Corr.: Could you share with us your creative plans? A.G.: I have plans to record another audio album, to shoot a video
clip, and do many other intersting things to the glory of God. |
